Resolutions from the Special Convention of General Synod 2025
On Saturday, 18 October 2025, 300 delegates gathered online for a Special Convention of General Synod established by resolution of the October 2024 Regular Convention. There was good participation from both pastor and lay delegates from across the church in Australia and New Zealand.

Ordination statement approved by online Synod meeting
General Synod has endorsed a new doctrinal statement on the ordination of women and men in the LCANZ. Synod delegates met online in a special one-day convention on 18 October, to consider the statement and address other business carried over from last October’s Regular Convention in Adelaide.

Ministry enrolments boost continues at ALC
There has been an influx of new students enrolling at ALC in 2025, with many embarking on a pathway to pastoral ministry. In Semester 2, up to 20 people seeking to enter ministry studies in the LCANZ may join the 18 students who began studies in Semester 1.

Four new pastors for LCANZ in May
Four people have become pastors in the LCANZ in the first 11 days of May, including two in the Northern Territory and two in South Australia.

Within just eight days from Sunday 27 April, three people are joining the LCANZ’s pastoral ministry ranks, including the church’s second woman pastor and two Aboriginal pastors.

Ordination joy for LCANZ … and more to come!
The LCANZ has joyfully welcomed two new pastors: Mark Tung, ordained in Auckland on 6 April, New Zealand, to serve the Mandarin-speaking Botany Lutheran Church, and Maria Rudolph, the church’s first female pastor, ordained in Adelaide on 13 April. She will serve at St John’s Lutheran Church Perth.
