LCANZ Facebook

At LCANZ Facebook, we hope you will find encouragement, inspiration and refreshment. We also want you to feel safe among our Lutheran community of members and friends. To achieve this, only our LCANZ Communications staff are able to make posts. You can comment on most posts but please contribute to the aims of LCANZ Facebook; that is, to be encouraging, affirming and supportive and to build each other up in the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12).

LCANZ Facebook house rules

Everyone is welcome to join us, but we expect that you will respect and care for everyone else with whom you share LCANZ Facebook. Thank you for understanding that we are trying to keep everyone people safe on LCANZ Facebook, where we want to see God’s love coming to life in what we share and how we treat each other.

You are welcome to adopt or adapt these house rules for your congregation or agency social media.

Our social media sites are not the places to discuss or debate issues before our church. You will find other places where you can do that. They are also not the places to engage in one-to-one sparring; if you want to have a private conversation with someone, you will need to do that via another method or forum.

All comments you make on LCANZ Churchwide social media sites must comply with the LCANZ Social Media Policy and with the LCANZ Standards of Ethical Behaviour, which are based on Colossians 3:2–4: Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

We do not publish criticism of other churches, religions or any identifiable group. This does not mean that you cannot raise concerns about such groups or our church’s involvement with such groups, but social media is not the forum to do this. Please take your concerns to the relevant LCANZ official or body directly.

We do not knowingly allow comments from fake or multiple profiles, so we might ask you to confirm that your profile details are indeed your own. If you cannot do that to our satisfaction, we will ban you from our page.

We do not accept posts that contain misinformation or make speculative comments that may mislead readers.

We do not accept comments that link to third-party sites, pages or posts, as we may not be able to verify or endorse their validity or veracity.

We do not publish advertisements or anything that could be construed as advertising, or requests for financial or other support.

We will hide or delete comments that we deem do not comply with our standards. We will allow two hidden or deleted comments per person; after that, we will ban you from the page.

In order to protect our page administrators' privacy, we do not reveal their identity.

We will not enter into any conversation or correspondence about hidden or deleted comments or about our reasons for banning people from our sites. If you feel you have been unfairly treated, you may lodge a complaint via our Complaints process.
