During August and September, more than one thousand members and friends of our Lutheran Church have been stepping out all over Australia in ALWS Walk My Way events, walking, strolling, striding or waving (encouraging others) to protect refugee girls in danger of child marriage in Kenya and Somalia.

After months of preparation, prayer and practical support, members of St John’s Lutheran Church Unley welcomed a Somali refugee family to Adelaide through the CRISP program. Their story reflects God’s love in action – a love also shared through ALWS as we support vulnerable refugee girls in Somalia.

Lutheran Media recently celebrated its 80th anniversary with a high tea in Toowoomba, Queensland, bringing together more than 60 supporters to reflect on the organisation’s rich history of sharing the gospel through media.

What started in 2015 as a simple but unique idea – using the LCA Churchwide Office car park on Ward Street in North Adelaide to raise funds during AFL games – grew into a decade-long faith outreach that welcomed thousands of footy fans and raised nearly $90,000 for our Lutheran Church ministries.

To mark its 75th anniversary in 2025, Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) chose a faith-led goal to support 75,000 children impacted by war and poverty with the essentials of a happy, healthy life.
