Caring Ministries
We support and encourage Christian care in all its forms in our congregations and in Lutheran aged-care and community services. Under our ministry of care, we promote the Lutheran ethos of aged care and community services, facilitate the development and promotion of resources, and consult and communicate with Lutheran agencies engaged in caring ministries.
Let's get started
For an introduction to Care Ministries and our Lutheran ethos of care, we suggest you start with these two videos.
Christian Care Sunday
The LCANZ encourages every congregation to celebrate the ministries of care that happen in our local churches and communities by choosing one Sunday every year to focus on the vulnerable people in our midst, and the individuals and organisations who assist them. By taking the time to acknowledge, pray for and bless these people and places, we trust that the Spirit of God will inspire and sustain us in our future care work.

Support in your ministry of care
Chaplain Accreditation
We assist chaplains in Lutheran aged-care and community services to deepen their faith and grow in their understanding of the ministry of care in Lutheran communities. We have developed an accreditation process for lay chaplains.
Grants
Chaplains, pastoral carers and anyone who provides a caring ministry in a Lutheran aged-care or community service or a Lutheran congregation are eligible to apply for a grant for professional development or resourcing support.
Webinars and teaching videos
In recent years we have run conferences and webinars to encourage and equip people across the church who are engaged in caring ministries. If you are interested in learning more, take a look at these resources featuring people already working in the area of Christian service.
