Lutheran family treasure hides in plain wrapping

Three plastic-wrapped pallets sit in a Wellington loading dock. Not much to see here. But this 945-kilogram load holds taonga (treasure), both historical and spiritual – sacred even. This is the archive of the Lutheran Church of New Zealand, bound for Lutheran Archives in Adelaide.

Meet our new archivists

Late last year Lutheran Archives was faced with the prospect of having no employees for 2022, due to staff leaving to follow new opportunities and director Rachel Kuchel set to go on maternity leave. However, God had the situation in hand, and three exceptionally talented archivists have now joined.
