Safe Church training changes reflect feedback
The Safe Church training program continues to be modified and improved as Professional Standards seeks to make the training more robust, effective and sustainable.
‘We have listened carefully to your feedback, particularly regarding the workload of volunteers,’ Professional Standards Manager Tim Ross said.
Starting this Thursday, 13 June 2024, an updated version of the Level 2 training will be available on iLearn. Like the current Level 1 modules, this latest iteration of Level 2 will be significantly briefer than its predecessors, reducing the time burden.
In relation to the alternative ‘live online’ format, after a number of promising trials, the delivery of these sessions commenced officially in May. A group of 11 people joined the Level 1 sessions, and 15 people joined the Level 2 session, with all sessions successfully delivered over Zoom.
‘Participants appeared to really value the interaction with the trainers, as well as the opportunity to have their questions answered,’ Tim said.
The following live online training sessions have been scheduled for June:
- Level 1 – Induction, 7.30pm – 9.00pm AEST, Wednesday 12 June 2024
- Level 1 – Induction, 1.30pm – 3.00pm AEST, Thursday 13 June 2024
