New government program focusing on refugees
A point we often make is that people are more open to a relationship when their lives are disrupted, and this is certainly the case with refugees. The person who shows some kindness to a new arrival can easily win a heart in this situation.
Recently, the Australian Government has agreed to a new program called ‘Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot’ (CRISP), which allows small groups of Australians to directly sponsor refugee families from camps overseas. The government will cover their airfares, and the group will meet them at the airport and support them when they arrive. You can ‘settle’ the new family in your own town or suburb and make a ‘huge’ difference for someone.
If this opportunity appeals, the Local Mission team is here to support you.
