MESSAGES OF HOPE IN JUNE
Financial stress
Dealing with finances seems to be a topic that causes a lot of stress. Our current climate has added even more uncertainty financially, even for people who were previously fairly confident and secure. Listen as Jan, a financial counsellor, shares her insights into how she has helped people find a way through financial stress. Click here to listen.
Three dollars in the bank
Financial distress can happen to anyone. It can be caused by losing your job, prolonged sickness, a mental health issue or a relationship breakdown. When Kerry’s marriage broke down, she went from living in a comfortable house and lifestyle to being a single mum with two young children and only three dollars in the bank. Listen as Kerry shares how she got through this difficult period of her life. Discover the hope she found to get through tough times. Click here to listen.
When God seems far away
‘I remember waking up, having irrational thoughts, like, complete terror. I felt like it was too late for me, that there wasn’t any hope for me at all. It’s the most terrifying experience I’ve had in my life.’
Depression challenges us not only physically and emotionally but also spiritually. Listen to Mark’s story, a pastor who has struggled with depression for about 20 years. How does someone with faith reconcile a God who often seems far away, especially when you feel so totally alone? Click here to listen.
Send me an angel
‘There was no definitive moment where I just suddenly realised, Oh man, I’m really sad. I’m really depressed. It just gradually happens. And there’s no motivation and no energy to do anything.’
It would be great if managing depression was purely logical, but depression can be really difficult to manage. For the person struggling with it, and the loved ones who care for them, depression can challenge and test us. But there is hope. Listen to Jane’s story of depression and how she finds hope to live through it. Click here to listen.
