Expressions of Interest are invited from members of the LCANZ to join eight working groups to undertake the work asked for by the 2021-2023 Convention of General Synod resolution regarding the ordination of women and men. The resolution is provided at the end of this document.
The eight working groups are:
Group 1: Synod Agenda and Outcomes Planning
Group 2: Theological Requirements
Group 3: Constitutional Requirements
Group 4: Governance Requirements
Group 5: Pastoral Care
Group 6: Candidacy of both Women and Men for Ordination in the LCANZ
Group 7: Communications
Group 8: Finance and Budgeting.
Members of the working groups need to understand the resolution of Convention of General Synod 2021-2023 and be committed to its transaction. Capacity to work within the strict timelines asked for by Convention is essential. The groups will include people providing diversity of positions on the matter of ordination.
Each working group will function under the oversight of a small project team coordinating the Ordination Resolution Way Forward response. This team reports to the General Church Board (GCB) and the College of Bishops (CoB) of the LCANZ.
We are seeking diversity across the working groups (including gender, age, cultural background, conviction about ordination) and people from all districts of the church.
Where necessary, some members of the working groups will be appointed by virtue of the position they hold or membership on a board, committee or commission: for example, Bishop, Secretary of the Church, Executive Officer of the Church or CTICR member.
Click here for further information about the working groups. A Question and Answer document will be available from Tuesday 4 April 2023 on the Ordination Resolution Way Forward webpage www.lca.org.au/wayforward

Appointments will be made by the joint meeting of GCB and CoB on 21 April 2023. The chairpersons of each working group will be selected and appointed by the joint meeting of GCB and CoB.
