Welcome to Step 2
The Child Safety Plan
You have landed on this page because you have completed Step 1, the Self-Assessment. Well done!
(If you haven’t completed the Self-Assessment, you’ll need to backtrack a bit and do that first.)
Okay, here's a few things you need to know.
The Child Safety Plan is a tool to help your congregation improve its child safety capacities and demonstrate its commitment to keeping children safe. It outlines strategies that your congregation or parish council have agreed to implement in order to fulfil the requirements of the LCA’s Child Safety Standards for Congregations.
The preparation of a Child Safety Plan is a leadership obligation, consistent with Standard 1 of the LCA Child Safety Standards: that child safety is 'embedded in the culture, leadership and governance' of the congregation. The preparation, submission and implementation of a Child Safety Plan every three years is a requirement for all congregations under the LCA's Child Safety Policy.
Before you start your plan, make sure you have downloaded and read the Child Safety Plan Guidelines (purple button below).
Regular reviews of our child safety practice help us to see what we are doing well and where improvement is needed. Continuous improvement helps to ensure our children are as safe as possible at church for worship, fellowship, and all other activities.
