Child Safety Standards Self-Assessment Guidelines

This video was filmed in 2022. In June 2024, the wording of the Child Safety Standards was updated and may be different to what is shown in this video. The content about performing a Self-Assessment is still relevant.
At the time of filming, completing a Self-Assessment and Child Safety Standards Action Plan was an annual requirement, but it is now required every three years.
Step 1
The Child Safety Self-Assessment
All congregations that have children participating in regular worship, prayer or children's ministry are expected to complete the Self-Assessment (and Child Safety Standards Action Plan) every three years, under the LCA's mandatory child safety responsibilities.

Completing the Child Safety Self-Assessment
The Child Safety Self-Assessment is to be entered into the online portal tool by assessors once they have finished talking to people and gathering all their information.
The Self-Assessment does not have to be completed in one sitting. You can save and return to your work at any time. Once completed, it is automatically delivered to your chairperson. It also contains a summary PDF of all your findings, which you can print.
