Training Opportunities
LCANZ Learning Hub
Designed with church workers and volunteer church leaders in mind the Learning Hub’s aim is to support and equip people serving the church to do what they are called to do – to grow and go as God’s people.
In a challenging environment and with multiple competing priorities, it’s important that you have access to accurate and helpful support, training and resources as you perform your important supporting roles in God’s mission.
The Learning Hub provides information, training, links and resources on a broad range of subjects that are essential and relevant for LCA congregations, parishes and their leadership. The Learning Hub supersedes the old Congregational Leadership Training but is much more comprehensive and wide-ranging in the topics and subject matter that it covers.
Safe Church
By providing a comprehensive Safe Church training program, the LCANZ Churchwide Office assists congregations and other bodies to promote high standards of ethical behaviour and care for all, especially for children and others in vulnerable circumstances.
Our training is part of the LCA’s commitment to reflecting God’s love through the way we treat each other and those who come into contact with our church. It is also designed to meet our commitments under the National Council of Churches Safe Church Training Agreement.
Safe Church training is offered face-to-face and online.
Local Mission
Renew Mission Life is a four-step training pathway for congregations wanting to discover where God is leading them in local mission. The training is supported by sermons and Bible studies.
Grow Coaching is an interactive process that helps individuals, ministry teams and congregations to practise vibrant faith in a changing world. Through Grow Coaching, we work intentionally with your congregation as you re-think child, youth and family ministry in the 21st century.
Preventing family and domestic violence
Training for pastors and pastoral workers has been held in all districts of the LCA. It has covered an understanding of domestic violence and the impact on survivors, perpetrators and their children, particularly in the congregational context. It also focused on appropriate first responses, referrals and the role of the Christian community in support and care.
Training for smaller groups is being rolled out in zones in South Australia. In Queensland, we are working with Queensland Churches Together to provide training in regional Queensland.
If you have questions about training, please email Helen Lockwood.
Continuing Education for Pastors (CEP)
Our Vocational Development and Training Policy sets out the church’s expectation that all church workers have access to development and training activities that support the development of appropriate skills, knowledge and experience to enable and equip them to fulfil the roles and offices they hold effectively and safely.
To support the lifelong education and development of pastors the College of Bishops oversee a program of Continuing Education for Pastors (CEP).
