Your heart is Jesus’ home
For this reason I fall on my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and earth receives its true name. I ask God from the wealth of his glory to give you power through his Spirit to be strong in your inner selves, and I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts through faith. (verses 14-17a)
Read Ephesians 3:14-21
‘Come in, and make yourself at home.’ You’ve probably said this to people who have been guests at your place. It’s a great invitation to offer; it frees people to relax, to take part in the activities of your household, and to share in the ups and downs of your life while they are with you.
Do you know that you make the same sort of invitation to Jesus? As you trust God’s promises to you, you invite Jesus to ‘make himself feel at home’ in your heart. As you trust that God forgives you, loves you, cares for you, and gives you strength for everyday life, Jesus comes to stay with you. And Jesus is a gracious guest – he brings you his gifts of peace and joy.
Continue to trust God, and rejoice in Jesus’ presence with you.
Father, I trust you to give me every good thing that I need in my life. Amen.
