Just your size
Since the children, as he calls them, are people of flesh and blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death, and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives because of their fear of death. (verses 14,15)
Read Hebrews 2:11-18
My daughter and I were walking to her kindergarten one morning when she started talking about Jesus. Among the seemingly endless stream of thoughts and comments that poured from her were these words: ‘Jesus is just my size’.
How very true. Jesus is just your size. He became a human being and experienced life just as you do—all the feelings, thoughts, temptations, fears, even death. It just shows how much God loves you. For in Jesus God enters your world to live with you, in you and through you always. In Jesus there is acceptance, love, forgiveness and eternal life.
God did not come as some powerful super-being or divine deliverer wrapped in glory. Instead, he came as a little child. He grew into a man who then showed that there was nothing to fear because he died and rose to life again. He did all this while he was just your size.
Thank you, Jesus, for being just my size and sharing life with me. Amen.
