Filled with the Spirit
Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. (verses 2-4)

Have you been filled with the Holy Spirit? This question was asked of my wife once by another sincere Christian. My wife was unsure. She had never been asked that question before and she had never considered what being filled with the Holy Spirit meant.
Have you been filled with the Holy Spirit? Throughout the churches there are many different ways of understandings the Spirit of God and what he does – some good, some not so good. But even as the question is asked it begs another question: how full is full? How much of the Holy Spirit do we need? How much do we have? Does he come and go as we sin and not sin? And what is his role? Why do we need the Spirit?
St Paul says it best of all: ‘No one can confess “Jesus is Lord,” without being guided by the Holy Spirit’ (1 Corinthians 12:3). Have you been filled with the Holy Spirit? If you confess Jesus as your Lord, you have the very Spirit of Christ dwelling within you. And that is all you need.
Dear Holy Spirit, enlighten my eyes to see Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Amen.
