Pentecost is the season of the church year when we read of the Spirit, coming as ‘a sound like the blowing of a violent wind’ and appearing like ‘tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them’ (the Apostles).
TEST PAGES
Does it take a village to raise a child these days?
Many of us are familiar with the African proverb, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’. As congregations, we can potentially provide a great village to support parents in raising their children in life and in faith.
Disciplined faith
My child, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord or lose heart when you are punished by him (Hebrews 12:5b).
Focused faith
‘Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith’ (Hebrews 12: 1b-2a).
Transforming faith
‘By faith Moses… considered abuse suffered for the Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to the reward’ (Hebrews 11:24a, 26).
This is the way
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me (John 14:1).
