Spring Quarter 2026
The checklists below have been developed by the Churchwide Office with input from the District Offices. Our aim is to provide you with a one-stop shop so you can systematically attend to most governance and administration requirements over the course of one year. The three downloadable Word lists below (September, October, November) are relevant for the Spring quarter of 2026. They will be updated for the Summer quarter, and you will be advised via the Congregation Leaders eNews. You can, of course, plan ahead by clicking on the generic month-by-month tabs on the annual calendar (green accordion, below). We invite your feedback and suggestions for how we can improve the checklists so they are as helpful to you as possible. Email LCA Communications.
A note for New Zealand congregation leaders: Some Australian-mandated items do not apply to New Zealand congregations. If in doubt, please contact your NZ District Administrator.
Help visitors find your church
We have launched an enhanced ‘Find a Church’ search tool, making it easier than ever for people to locate you and find your worship places and times. These tools are used regularly by people looking for a local church and those who are travelling, so it is important that your congregation’s details are accurate and up to date. If the details (location and/or service times) are not correct, you will need to update them in LAMP2. Take a moment to check now.
Regular inspections of the manse are an important part of responsible property stewardship and help ensure that the home remains safe, functional and well-maintained for its occupants. Congregation leaders are encouraged to arrange periodic inspections, in consultation with the pastor and their family, to identify any maintenance issues early, address potential safety concerns, and plan for future repairs or improvements. These inspections should be conducted respectfully and collaboratively, recognising that the manse is both a church-owned asset and the pastor’s home. Maintaining a regular inspection schedule supports the wellbeing of all those living in the manse while protecting the long-term value and condition of the property. The manse inspection checklist below has been developed by the SA–NT District and kindly made available here for use by all LCANZ congregations.

Budgeting for 2027
This is the time of year to prepare your budget for 2027. Your treasurer will need to prepare the budget for review by the church council, with sufficient time for adjustments to be made, for presentation at the AGM and for adoption. We have some helpful tips for budget preparation on our Finance page.
Theme and logo unveiled for Synod 2027
The theme and logo for next year’s 22nd Regular Convention of General Synod in Brisbane have been unveiled, with ‘Open Arms’ and its tagline, ‘Receiving Abundantly – Sharing Generously’, celebrating God’s abundant gifts and the church’s calling to receive them with gratitude and share them.

General Synod 2027: what you need to know
The LCA’s 22nd Regular Convention of General Synod will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland from 1 to 4 October 2027. Information on delegate fees, key deadlines and planning for delegates has now been released to help congregations and parishes prepare.

Code of Conduct update
A summary of feedback received on the LCANZ Code of Conduct is now available. The General Church Board and College of Bishops will now review the feedback as they revise the Code of Conduct and implementation plan, with further consultation to follow.
