In preparation for round two of the Child Safety Self-Assessments and Child Safety Standards Action Plans, the LCA Child Safety Standards have been reviewed to check they continue to be fit for purpose and cover all the changes occurring in child safety requirements across Australia.

The General Church Board and College of Bishops has notified LCANZ pastors and congregational leaders that a new Lutheran church body called Lutheran Mission – Australia (LM-A) has been established.

Almost 70 people met in a spirit of mutual respect at Cummins in South Australia on Sunday, for the first face-to-face gathering of the Preparation and Prayer phase of the LCANZ’s Way Forward project.

How is your congregation going with implementing their Child Safety Standards Action Plan? We love hearing from congregations that are working to implement their Child Safety Standards Action plans.

Nominations for positions on the boards, councils, commissions and committees of the LCANZ for the next synodical term are now open. Governance body members who wish to continue in their role also need to submit a nomination, as reappointment is not guaranteed.

While the next round of Child Safe Plans is now not due until 2025, LCANZ Child Protection Project Officer Mary-Ann Carver has encouraged congregational leadership teams to keep working on their commitment to child safety.
