Grow Kids Year B is now available
Launched last year, Grow Kids is a new resource curriculum from Grow Ministries. We are excited to make this year’s resource for Lectionary Year B available. It is designed to help Grow Kids to know Jesus and respond to his love through worship and service.
Designed as a teaching curriculum, it has so many components to choose from. You can choose from the varied sections like a menu. A thoughtful selection of menu items will help to provide the best experience for your group. This resource provides opportunities for you to tailor the sessions to suit your audience. For example, the creative response is a suggestion; if you have a better idea, please feel free to make whatever tweaks and changes you need to meet the needs of the children in your group. Menu items are always listed in the same order but can be used in any order. Think of them as starting points. Select, use and adapt them to provide a session that helps to grow your children.
Perhaps you are looking for a Sunday school curriculum. Here is what Marjorie has to say:
I want to let you know how thankful I am that you developed the Grow Kids curriculum. It really is perfect for our situation – a handful of children ranging from 1 to 9 in age. We had been using Woven Together, which is delightful, but we were often struggling to find an appropriate activity for our lesson. Grow Kids takes care of this, so any of us are able to deliver our lesson easily. Additionally, I tried out the Advent sample lesson, and our children loved the hands wreath activity, which led me to order the curriculum for the year. Further, our little ones went from Sunday school into church, and the lesson was restated throughout the worship service. It really worked beautifully. So thank you to all you hardworking people. Your work is greatly appreciated!

If you are looking for a school classroom devotion, you can use the story of the week, the prayer and the blessing for your students If you want a school classroom devotion. There are excellent background notes about the Bible story to help understand the context of the story. The delivery of these stories ranges from a simple re-telling to a creative drama. There is a breadth of Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments.
Perhaps you would like to focus on the Catechism. Children can be introduced gradually to the basic teachings of the Christian faith. Some churches have catechisms for this purpose. The Lutheran church uses the Small Catechism of Martin Luther, which is based on the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer and the sacraments of baptism and holy communion. Each session has a Catechism Spotlight. In this menu item, a specific portion of Christian teaching, which relates to the story and the focus of the week, is briefly discussed. This can be covered more thoroughly by reference to other books. Children will benefit from hearing the actual wording of church teaching.
Grow Kids provides a catalyst for creativity and joy in learning about Jesus. Perhaps you could use it for Messy Church – it has the Bible story, a craft and everything in between.
