Professional Standards manager appointed
Mr Tim Ross will be the LCA’s new manager of the Professional Standards Department (PSD). A qualified lawyer who most recently has worked at the Financial Ombudsman Service Australia, Tim succeeds Ms Liz Crawford, who is retiring in early July after more than five years in the role.
As a senior case manager with the Financial Ombudsman, Tim has developed significant experience in complaints handling and the application of legislation and regulation. An Anglican, Tim also has been involved on a voluntary basis in professional standards within the Anglican church since 2012. Over this time he has supported the application of professional standards-related policies and procedures at a local level.
‘I am thrilled with this opportunity’, he said. ‘Hopefully God has called me to serve in this way because he knows I will make a positive contribution to the church.
‘I am confident my legal background and experience in the financial sector provide a suitable grounding for taking on this challenge. During my work with the Ombudsman, as well as with the regulator in the UK, I have grappled with complex issues and handled many emotional conflicts. I feel ready and excited about overseeing matters in an area that is so crucial for the church.’
From Melbourne, Tim will re-locate to Adelaide and begin work from the LCA National Office on 20 June.
The PSD has been established to help ensure the church meets its own high standards, complies with legislative requirements and takes any action necessary to protect people who are in contact with the LCA. Its role includes the development of appropriate policies and procedures, and supporting their implementation through training and providing advice.
