ALC annual appeal launched
Australian Lutheran College (ALC) has launched its annual appeal. Each year, ALC appeals to LCANZ members to help it prepare pastors, teachers and church workers for service in congregations, schools, aged and community care organisations. This is your opportunity to support ALC financially as it trains and prepares people for service in Christ’s mission.
As ALC prepares to leave the North Adelaide campus at the end of June 2025 and move to the new Church House premises at 139 Frome Street, Adelaide, later in the year, Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that everything has its time and purpose and that changes are just part of life’s journey.
Today, students don’t need to relocate to Adelaide to study. Instead, all ALC students learn, grow and reflect on their learning from wherever they live, with support from ALC staff, local mentors, their families and their faith communities – their support network. When possible, ALC also offers opportunities for students to come together in person for workshops, encouragement and learning through events and intensives.
One thing that has remained since 1922 is the church’s goal to train its own pastors here in Australia. ALC exists to make that happen and is ready to serve; however, since tertiary education is costly, it relies on your support.
Your donation will ensure that ALC can continue to have the necessary resources to train and prepare God’s people to serve as pastors, teachers and church workers. This year’s intake includes 35 students enrolled in ministry and theology courses, 18 of whom are discerning an ordained ministry pathway with the aim of serving the LCANZ as either a General Ministry Pastor or a Specific Ministry Pastor. You can read the stories of some of these students in the June–July edition of The Lutheran. A further 17 students are enrolled in the Bachelor of Counselling award, and more enrolments are expected in Semester 2.
Donations of more than $2 are tax-deductible, and those received by 30 June may be claimed in this financial year.
