‘Together, we’re supporting 75,000 children!’

8 July 2025

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

To mark its 75th anniversary in 2025, Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) chose a faith-led goal to support 75,000 children impacted by war and poverty with the essentials of a happy, healthy life.

At an average of $25 per child to help provide food, schooling and safer environments, that’s an audacious target of raising $1.875 million this year alone. But, despite the scale of the challenge, thanks to the generosity of our Lutheran family, the goal was reached by the end of June!

ALWS Community Action Manager Jonathan Krause admitted it was ‘a real step-of-faith target’, set as the Lutheran Church’s aid agency’s way of giving thanks to God for 75 years of service.

‘It is so exciting that there are now more than 75,000 children across ALWS-supported projects being blessed with school, food and safety, thanks to kind people like you through our ALWS 75,000 Children Thanksgiving campaign,’ he said.

‘It’s absolutely amazing. Those 75,000 children are proof that kindness counts, and I hope that brings a smile to the faces of everyone reading this.

‘It is proof that, together, we can bring love to life for people the world has forgotten.’

Jonathan said there were many more children in drought-ravaged and war-riven countries such as Ethiopia and Ukraine in need of support, so the ALWS 75,000 Children Thanksgiving campaign will remain open. Donate today here
