Women need women
The Proverbs 31 woman was quite an incredible woman! Have a read about her in Proverbs 31:10–31. If a woman were to do all that this woman does, she would be a superwoman and one of the new Marvel characters.
As a woman, I need to have other women to share and chat with to find appreciation, love and blessings. God made men and women very different, and many women enjoy the friendship of other women. In one of our congregations, I found acceptance, love and friendship in a group of five other women. We spent many hours together, always finding ways to share, lift each other up and comfort each other in our sorrows.
Women are made for the connection with other women, for friendships and deep relationships. We can handle whatever life throws at us when we experience true friendship. Friendship isn’t built on grand, elaborate gestures. Instead, it is made up of a thousand tiny, everyday moments and interactions. It’s noticing the small things: the encouragement for a downcast face, the hug for the stressed-out, the affirmation of achievement, the caring to do something unasked, the love to just be there!
Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) has many resources for women to share with other women – to encourage, to say ‘I care’, to uplift and in any other moment. Have a look through the text cards and postcards to add a quick note.
Explore the LTM website at www.ltm.org.au and search for friendship to find out how you can build up another one of God’s children.
‘… a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honour her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate’ (Proverbs 31:30b,31).
