On 21 August, Sophie Gebreyes, the country director of Lutheran World Federation Ethiopia, was interviewed on Vision Christian Media. She reflected on the incredible presence of Lutherans in Ethiopia – over 10 million people! Sophie also shared how you are bringing a real change through ALWS.

Through Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS), our Lutheran Church helps give families in Myanmar access to education, income opportunities and hope for a brighter future. This support makes a world of difference to people living in internally displaced persons camps in Myanmar.

While we frequently hear about wars in Ukraine and Gaza, there are terrible conflicts the world seems to have forgotten, including in Myanmar. However, our Lutheran Church is serving on the frontline there through Australian Lutheran World Service.

On Saturday 11 May, more than 870 people sent a bright message of hope from Queensland to children and families displaced by war in Ukraine through ALWS Walk My Way Ukraine.

Join Australian Lutheran World Service in Brisbane City on Saturday 11 May for a 3-kilometre or 12.5-kilometre walk along the iconic Brisbane River as we step out to support the people of Ukraine.

When the war began in Ukraine, people who were displaced from their homes couldn’t walk away from danger, they had to run. But members of our Lutheran family and friends will be walking in Brisbane next month to support those children and families hurt by war – and it’s not too late to join them.
