Learn more about Christian ministry with ALC
Australian Lutheran College’s (ALC) Diploma in Ministry is an exciting new opportunity to learn more about Christian ministry and reflect on how we can participate in the call in Matthew 26 to go into the world.
In line with the emphasis of the award on ministry practice, ALC has brought together a team of skilled practitioners with a heart to share their ministry skills and help students grow in their capacity for wise, ethical and effective ministry. ALC is pleased to highlight two of the Diploma in Ministry units available in Semester 2 2023.
The Practice of Christian Ministry
Taught by Rev James Winderlich and Ms Emma Graetz, this unit introduces the key elements and considerations of engaging in the practice of formal and informal Christian ministry. The unit will enable students to more fully understand the nature and breadth of the Christian ministries to which they may be called. The weekly tutorials will be an opportunity to explore how the principles apply to their local ministries.
Christian Care 1
This unit is taught by Ms Susan Westhorp and offers students an introduction to Christian pastoral care. This unit covers theological dimensions integrated with a practical CARE model of basic pastoral care. The CARE model includes the four elements of connect, actively listen, respond, and encourage.
