Only four days to go: ALWS Thanksgiving Festival and Walk My Way
If you’ll be in Adelaide this coming Saturday, join hundreds of other members of our Lutheran family and friends taking part in the ALWS 75th Anniversary Thanksgiving Festival in the grounds of Australian Lutheran College (ALC).
The festival includes Walk My Way Adelaide, and it’s not too late to walk, volunteer, donate or just come along for the fun, festivities and thanksgiving.
Join hundreds of others in stepping out so a child can step up – with school, food and safety. The goal across 2025 is to support 75,000 children at approximately $25 per child. At Adelaide Walk My Way, you can take the 10km walk along the River Torrens or choose a 3km flat and easy amble around North Adelaide. There is a registration fee to cover costs, so that all the money you raise by having friends and family sponsor your walk can go towards helping children. Find out more and register here today!
If walking is not for you, you can support a walker with a donation and still enjoy all of the other parts of the festival. These include music and entertainment, food and coffee, a giant ALC garage sale, displays from Lutheran ministries, last-chance tours of ALC’s historic Hebart Hall before it becomes a private residence, the Adelaide launch (at 8am) of Dr Brian Neldner’s book Table of Eight about the beginnings of ALWS, a fundraising plant stall and more. You can register for the book launch here.
Saturday’s events will be followed on Sunday by an ALWS 75th Thanksgiving Service at Concordia College Chapel, Highgate in suburban Adelaide.

Can’t get to Adelaide, but you can be in Brisbane on Saturday 10 May? Just like Adelaide, participants in the Brisbane Walk My Way will be part of the ‘75,000 children to give thanks for 75 years of ALWS service campaign’. In Brisbane, the special focus is on helping children in Ukraine by building underground schools on the frontline in Kharkiv. You also provide trauma counselling and play therapy. The walk starts from the QUT Garden Point Campus. Register or donate here for Brisbane Walk My Way.
