The light

26 December 2018

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Now the message that we have heard from his Son and announce is this: God is light, and there is no darkness at all in him. If, then, we say that we have fellowship with him, yet at the same time live in the darkness, we are lying both in our words and in our actions. But if we live in the light – just as he is in the light – then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin. (verses 5-7)

Read 1 John 1:1-10

Nothing reveals the truth like light.

When you see a painting in the art gallery, the light that shines on the picture helps you to see the picture clearly. You see the cracks and imperfections, the mistakes in the artist’s execution of the painting. You see the way time has robbed the colours of their vibrancy. But you also see the beauty of the picture – you see what makes it captivating and unique.

God calls you to live in his light. This means that you see the imperfections in your life -imperfections that you would not have even noticed if you’d continued to live in darkness. In fact, listening to God’s word shows up your sin. But living in God’s light also shows up the beauty in your life-the beauty you have by being purified by Jesus’ blood.

You are God’s work of art. Live in his light, and let the beauty of God be seen in your life.

Loving God, thank you for creating me and for making me clean by Jesus’ blood. Let me live in the light, so that other people will see your goodness. Amen.
