Pastoral Conference Victoria 1971
This flashback from The Lutheran cover shows the Victorian (District) Pastoral Conference from September 1971.
Lutheran Pastoral Conferences are gatherings of pastors for worship, Bible study, theological reflection, professional development, fellowship and mutual encouragement. They provide an opportunity for pastors to learn together, discuss matters affecting the church, share ministry experiences, and support one another in their calling. Generally, they are held in the lead up to a District Synod.
As we reflect on this moment in our history, we pray for those gathering at the Vic-Tas District Pastors Conference and Convention of Synod this week 2-4 October 2026. We also give thanks for Bishop Lester Priebbenow’s faithful leadership and ministry as he prepares to conclude his service in the role next year, and we pray for God’s guidance as delegates elect a new Bishop for the Vic-Tas District during this weekend’s Synod.
May the guiding hand of the Good Shepherd protect, bless, enfold and abundantly inspire Bishop Lester and Deidre as they enter this new season of life, bringing them peace, joy and confidence in God’s ongoing care and purpose.
