LLL farewells three long-serving colleagues
LLL Australia has farewelled three long-serving staff members, Terri, Heather and Gaynor, who together devoted more than 90 years of service to the organisation.
After decades serving customers and supporting LLL’s ministry, the trio are now enjoying well-deserved retirement.
Heather and Terri were familiar faces at the front teller counter for more than 20 years, while Gaynor became a familiar voice to customers as LLL’s first point of contact by phone.
Reflecting on their time at LLL, each spoke of the privilege of serving the Lutheran Church and the relationships formed over many years.
Terri
‘It’s meant the world to me to be part of the Lutheran family and to help my church.
‘I remember at end-of-financial-year time, they’d talk about what we had done during the year and how we’d helped different projects and people. It felt so fulfilling to be part of that. I was just the little teller out the front, but even that was so fulfilling.
‘A lot changed over the years, but some things stayed the same … the spirit, the soul of the place, the heart are still there. I was so proud that I worked at LLL.’
Heather
‘The whole mission and purpose – what LLL is about – totally fits with my faith and my values.
‘It has been a pleasure and a privilege to know that what you’re doing meant something worthwhile. It’s been a wonderful place to work, not only in what it does, but the people and the culture.’
Gaynor
‘I feel like I have spoken to nearly every customer after being on the phones for over 20 years. I developed a huge rapport with our regular customers, so much so that I have had a few customers take the time to come in and meet me while they were holidaying or seeing family in Adelaide. Some came from Queensland and Western Australia – quite extraordinary!
‘It has been absolutely wonderful to work in a Christian environment, more so, a Lutheran environment, as a born and bred Barossa Lutheran.
‘There are certainly some people who remain lifelong friends, and this is a wonderful legacy of working for LLL. It has been a pleasure and a joy to work for LLL.’
LLL thanks Terri, Heather and Gaynor for their faithful service and wishes them every blessing as they begin this new chapter of retirement.
