The Way Forward working groups are in the development phase of the final framework that will be put to General Synod in October as a proposal for how the LCANZ might operate as one church with two practices of ordination.

If you ever find yourself in conversation with Gillian Heintze, you’ll notice two things: first, she may be the most personable human that you’ve interacted with in a while; and second, she is passionate about things that many of us would rather not have to think about.

In October 2024, General Synod delegates will be voting on a proposal to allow for the LCANZ to function as ‘one church with two different practices of ordination’.

More than 300 people from across the LCANZ attended this month’s Way Forward webinars in which three ‘one church, two practices of ordination’ frameworks were introduced.

Three webinars have been organised to allow all members of the church to learn more about the three Way Forward frameworks, approved in September by the General Church Board and College of Bishops.

Our LCANZ bishops are calling the people of the church to set aside Sunday 8 October for a churchwide day of prayer focusing on the unity of the church. This is a significant day as it is just a year from the 2024 Convention of General Synod.
