Local Mission – Training and Events

This year’s Local Mission appeal focuses on developing our young adults in faith and leadership. Your donation will help us find and support the young adults in our midst, like Elsa and Joel, whom God is calling into service in the church.

Each year, the Local Mission department of the LCANZ facilitates a Season of Prayer, inviting and calling on congregations of the LCANZ to pray. This year, the Season of Prayer is scheduled for 10 to 24 September 2023, and the theme is ‘Lord, renew your church’.

Offered by Local Mission, a Gospel Fluency Workshop is designed to help prepare and equip you and give you a vocabulary, context, and some actual practice in sharing the good news in words and actions with those around you.

ALC’s Diploma in Ministry is an exciting new opportunity to learn more about Christian ministry and reflect on how we can participate in the call in Matthew 26 to go into the world.

It felt like Pentecost came early this year for the 50 delegates who gathered recently for the national Cross-Cultural Conference, ‘Moving into the neighbourhood’.

Pentecost is the season of the church year when we read of the Spirit, coming as ‘a sound like the blowing of a violent wind’ and appearing like ‘tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them’ (the Apostles).
