LCANZ Reconciliation Ministry is embarking on a new phase of ongoing development. Recently the General Church Board resolved to change the way the ministry operates, moving it away from a departmental model.

As part of the LCANZ’s commitment to pastors and the communities they serve, the General Church Board has approved a policy designed to strengthen the church’s support in the formation and equipping of pastoral ministry candidates.

The 20th General Synod elected Pastor Paul Smith as the LCANZ’s next bishop and Pastor Neville Otto as the assistant bishop. Delegates also elected the General Church Board to serve the LCANZ for the 2021-24 synodical term.

Hobart barrister Kim Baumeler has been elected to serve on the LCANZ’s General Church Board (GCB) by the LCANZ’s General Synod.

The General Synod of the LCANZ has elected Pastor Neville Otto, senior pastor at St Paul Box Hill in suburban Melbourne and former Secretary of the Church, as assistant bishop of the LCANZ.

Jamie Davies, Executive Director of Australian Lutheran World Service, says it has been a privilege to shepherd the organisation through some exciting changes for more than three years. She will be leaving ALWS early next year.
