Who is Martin Luther?

8 October 2024

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Who is Martin Luther, and why is he so important to Lutherans?

God’s great gift is his word. Throughout its history, the Christian church has had to struggle to proclaim and teach the truth of God’s word. Toward the end of the Middle Ages (in the 15th and 16th centuries), false teachings and abuses had developed in the church. In his grace, God chose Martin Luther to be his servant for an important work: the Reformation of the Church.

On October 31, we commemorate the Reformation, the anniversary of Martin Luther’s posting of his 95 theses concerning the sale of indulgences.

Grow Ministries’ GIFT Martin Luther is a great resource for congregations, schools and homes to learn more about the story of Martin Luther and the Reformation. It includes many activities and templates, such as worship and event ideas, intergenerational activities and take-home sheets for families.

These resources have been designed to bring all generations together to learn, discover and build relationships. Bringing generations together provides benefits and blessings on a variety of levels – for congregations, families, individuals of all ages, and the wider community.
