Changes for Victorian home and village

11 July 2024

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Eventide Lutheran Homes & Hamilton Village (Eventide) in Hamilton, and Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Village (Sunnyside), have communicated to their residents, family representatives and staff, that they foresee a technical change in the future as a result of the upcoming changes to the Aged Care Act, due in July 2025.  The Lutheran Church Victorian District (LCAVD) has recommended to their Convention of Synod, that they seek a new Approved Provider for Eventide and Sunnyside. This proposed transition will ensure the continued provision of high-quality Christian aged care in both locations, with minimal changes for residents, their families, and staff. Residents and families have been assured that any refundable deposits or bonds will remain protected, and residents will be safe in their home.

This recommendation follows two years of thorough analysis and aims to align with new regulatory requirements that are planned for July 2025 when the new Act is due to be effective. The proposal was accepted at the Victorian District Convention of Synod on 13th July. Discussions are commencing with qualified larger organisations, preferably Lutheran, to assume the role of Approved Provider. The Victorian District has confirmed with stakeholders that they will be kept informed throughout the process.
