SA Retirement Village Alliance – a ground-breaking event

23 July 2024

The recent South Australian Retirement Village and Community Service Alliance meeting, held in July, marked a significant milestone in our community. For the first time, members from South Australia were joined by their counterparts from Victoria, expanding our network and fostering a richer exchange of ideas and experiences. This was also the inaugural two-day event, allowing for a more comprehensive exploration of topics and enhanced networking opportunities that built on the momentum from our May 2024 Networking Forum that was held in Brisbane.

Presenters included Mark from CBB, who captivated our members with insights on Salary Packaging that were previously unknown to many. The LLL also provided a crucial update regarding their transition to a Religious Charitable Development Fund (RCDF)

One of the standout sessions was the Media Crisis Communication workshop. Designed to challenge participants and push them beyond their comfort zones, this session featured a professional cameraman and the seasoned reporter Mark Aiston. Attendees faced real-time, high-pressure scenarios, providing an intense yet invaluable experience that honed their media handling skills and prepared them for any potential media interactions they might face.

Overall, the meeting was a resounding success, strengthening our community and equipping our members with crucial skills and insights for the future.
