Walk My Way is now Walk Your Way

All of us must work together to limit the spread of COVID-19 infection. Therefore, ALWS has postponed the Walk My Way events planned for Melbourne on 18 April and in the Barossa Valley on 2 May.

But we can still support refugee children in Africa to go to school. Walk My Way is now Walk Your Way!

Participants register as normal via the Walk My Way website. You still ask people to support you and you’ll still receive a T-shirt and African carry bag. But do Walk Your Way in the weeks ahead on your own, or with a household member, observing social distancing and the latest government health advice. You can do Walk Your Way when and where it suits you best.

If 26 kilometres is too far, do less – or do it over a number of days. You can also Wheel Your Way with a walker, wheelchair or pram, or Woof Your Way with your dog!

As you walk, you help refugee children like Eugenie who says, ‘I want to be a lawyer’. Her sister Esperanza wants to be a pilot. Those dreams start with school. Eleven-year-old Australian Aliya says: ‘Refugees have lost their home and everything they owned – I walk so I can help them get to school and have a better future.’

Through ALWS, it costs just $26 per year to support a refugee child to go to school. The aim is to support 10,000 children through Walk Your Way.

You can register to take part, sponsor a walker, donate, or do all three. Together, we can still step out and bring love to life.
