What is a Tract?
This is a strange word, and I don’t blame you for not knowing what it is. I looked up in Google and found the definition: “…a short treatise in pamphlet form, typically on a religious subject.” This brings me to ‘Lutheran Tract Mission’ (LTM).
For almost 50 years the LLL (Lutheran Laypeople’s League) has been producing these little pamphlets originally included with customers savings passbooks as an outreach and ministry. This ministry is totally donation-based. The tracts (now including bookmarks, magnets, little cards, postcards and multi-page booklets) are a tool for churches, aged care residences, schools and the community to share Jesus in a non-threatening way. Our tract topics have also extended beyond talking about religious subjects to birthday greetings, anniversaries, ‘have a happy day’, short Bible verses and so many others.
I encourage you to view the over 1000 resources divided into 46 different categories on the Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) website: www.ltm.org.au
LTM has also extended the resources to including both an Advent and Lenten devotional which has a short devotion, Bible reading and prayer for each day of Lent and Advent. These booklets can be downloaded and printed free from our website and can be either A5 or A4 size. What a lovely gift for each resident to have to read each day, or for a chaplain to read over the intercom each day.
The new one for this year is titled; ‘Hope for the Future’.
Our tracts can be ordered online. Maybe you would also like to have some tracts displayed on your own website – showing the Christian nature of your residence. We have a free digital spinner which can be placed on your website and can be updated regularly by myself – you just need to inform me what topics of tracts you would like displayed. If this is something you would like to know more about, please email me: anne.hansen@lll.org.au
God bless you as you carry out the most important job of caring spiritually for all the residents in your aged care facility.
