Praying, working and walking …!

I really enjoy just walking. Whether it is in the country, city, at the beach or through the forest, I love to walk. In my earlier years, I walked and trekked through the countryside and mountains of Europe. One thing about walking is that it allows time to think.

Walking lends itself to internal conversations and, often, they are conversations with God. In 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, we are told to continually pray: ‘Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’

People often find themselves reflecting on various aspects of life, such as health, family and work challenges. The simple act of walking can help us connect with our surroundings, allowing prayer to flow naturally. Whether it’s about issues at work or tending to a garden, it’s important to bring these concerns to the Lord in prayer. Prayer helps lift our burdens and places them on the loving and caring shoulders of God.

Make an effort to pray without ceasing today and continue this practice tomorrow, and so on. Pray continually!

Lutheran Tract Mission has several resources to help you with prayer. Explore the LTM website at www.ltm.org.au and search for ‘prayer’ to find them.

Anne Hansen is Lutheran Tract Mission’s Tract Development Officer.
