LCANZ churchwide entities will share stories of Lutherans in Australia and New Zealand with the wider community through an exhibition, guided tours, workshops and presentations during South Australia’s History Festival in May. The new Church House Exhibition Centre will open its doors at 139 Frome Street in Adelaide for the month-long celebration of history and community connections from 5 May. Historic church marks 150 years of blessings
Almost 500 people gathered in the South Australian town of Point Pass last weekend (11 and 12 April) to celebrate Immanuel Lutheran Church’s 150th anniversary. Featuring a thanksgiving service, historic musical performances and the launch of a book on the history of the church in the state’s lower Mid North, the festivities drew descendants, visitors, former residents and church members, and people with a connection to Immanuel College, which was founded there in 1895. It’s good news in any language!
The mission to share the good news of the gospel with everyone – regardless of what language they speak – is an ongoing worldwide challenge. That mission, including making sound Lutheran teaching accessible to different cultural groups in Australia and New Zealand, is gaining momentum through a dedicated Chinese-language translation and media project supported by the LCA Local Mission Seed Fund.
