New child safety resources to help your congregation thrive

Have you visited the Child Safety Standards Resources page recently? Many resources are available to assist congregations in implementing the Child Safety Standards – many of which are new and may be of interest to you.

• ‘I’m the Boss of My Body!’ – a leaflet that empowers young people regarding their body safety.
• ‘Your Rights’ – an LCA-produced poster that empowers young people about their rights (see Child Safety Standards 2.1).
• Children’s Address – a children’s talk with a script and PowerPoint slides, which may be used as positive messaging about child safety and to encourage child safety discussions at home (see Child Safety Standards 1.4, 2.1). This resource is designed to be used with the ‘Who Keeps Me Safe at Church?’ resource – a children’s activity that helps young people identify the people they can approach if they need to speak up about their feelings (see Child Safety Standards 2.2).
• Commitment poster – encourages parents regarding our child safety mission and reminds everyone of our shared responsibility to keep children safe (see Child Safety Standards 3.4).
• Child Safety Standards Activity Book – a brand-new resource that includes a child-friendly version of the Child Safety Standards.

A curated collection of resources has been developed to assist with meeting Child Safety Standard 4 and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and families who are culturally and linguistically diverse.

All congregations should now be undertaking their Self-Assessment and preparing the second round of their Child Safety Standards Action Plan. The due date to submit Child Safety Standards Action Plans via the online portal is 31 March 2025.
