Communications
About us
You know what? Lutherans don't have the best or the newest or the smartest communication technology there is. We never will. It's not a major priority for us. That's because, when it comes to communication, even the very best technology cannot replace human contact, interaction and connection.
We take our cue from Jesus himself, who came down from heaven to be with us and to walk by our side. He knew that, when it comes to really connecting with people, trying to communicate from a distance just doesn't cut it. So building communities of believers and worshipping regularly is very important to us, as is connecting with people in caring face-to-face conversations.
That's not to say we're not making use of God's great gift of communication technology. As you'll see in this section of the website, we're all over the world with our message that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of all. That's not a message to be hidden under a bush; we want to proclaim it loudly and clearly, and so we are using whatever modern means available to us to do that.
No matter what new technology we use, though, we'll always have at the centre of our communications the heart of God who reaches out with love and grace to every person in their need.
How we serve
The LCA Communications team is working hard to create and support effective communication channels across the LCA/NZ and provide opportunities for you to engage with your national and district agencies, with each other and with your communities.
We support you by providing and constantly improving communication methods (websites, e-communications, promotion packages and social media) and, of course, our beloved magazine The Lutheran.
We are a diverse church. We hope our communications methods offer something for everyone – and help every one of you to share the greatest story ever told.
No matter what method or new technology we might use, we’ll always have at the centre of our communications the heart of God who reaches out with love and grace to every person in their need.
LCA Ministry Support
Communications is a department of the Executive Office of the Church, also known as Ministry Support. It is one of five departments exercising the 'enabling' functions outlined in our Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) Strategic Direction 2015–2018. Working with us are:
Together we provide the support services for LCA and Lutheran Church of New Zealand (LCNZ) agencies and congregations that enable them to focus on their mission and ministry activities (the 'go' and 'grow' priorities in our LCA Strategic Direction).
And just a final note: LCA Communications is not to be confused with Lutheran Media, whose charter is to reach out through media to the unchurched. As such, Lutheran Media sits within the Executive Office – Local Mission.
