The LCA’s new Child Safety Standards for Congregations have been approved by the General Church Board (GCB). These standards were developed to implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all LCA congregations in Australia.

The draft LCA Child Safety Standards for Congregations were released for targeted consultations in May. Results will be analysed and submitted to the General Church Board GCB) for consideration in October. Pending GCB approval, implementation of the standards is expected to commence in early 2022.

An estimated 300 congregational leaders and pastors joined the LCANZ Safe Church webinar on Saturday. Child Protection Project Officer Mary-Ann Carver spoke about the draft LCA Child Safety Standards for Congregations.

The LCANZ’s new congregational child safety standards will go through a consultation process in April and May. The LCA standards are designed to ensure that the church can meet its regulatory responsibilities in response to an increasingly rigorous child safety landscape.
