Gift. Grace. Gathered. Good (works). These words are ‘the four “Gs” of our gospel life as the church’, LCANZ Bishop Paul Smith told worshippers at today’s General Synod and St John’s Unley service.

Synod enables ordination of both women and men as pastors in our church
This afternoon, 5 October 2024, General Synod resolved to support a proposal from the General Church Board and College of Bishops to remove from the LCA’s Theses of Agreement the paragraph (VI:11) which prohibits women from entering the pastoral ministry.

Congregations supported in mission
Ten LCANZ congregations will be supported in outreach endeavours through the inaugural grants from the church’s Local Mission Fund. The fund is designed to enhance a mission culture across the church.

Synod approves training and accreditation authority
A Training and Accreditation Authority will be established in the LCANZ. The body will assess training and accreditation needs across the church and ensure that effective strategies are in place or developed to respond to them.
