What is the Way Forward?

The question of ordination to the public ministry, or more particularly women's ordination, has been a topic of much debate and, sadly, division in LCANZ over several decades. Earlier this year, the LCANZ's General Synod asked the church leadership to explore the theological, constitutional and governance issues involved in establishing one church with two different practices of ordination. The resulting project is the Way Forward. Three members involved in the project explain the background structure, work and expectations of the Way Forward.
It would be really sad to get to the end of this project and have general church members turn around and say to us, 'We had no idea what was happening'.Â
It's in these conversations that I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit moves. And it's in the goodwill of the Holy Spirit and in our common love - 99.9 per cent of the people agree with 99. 9 per cent of the church. And we need to have this conversation, and then move forward in bringing people to Christ.
