Is it time to do some rethinking?

15 September 2023

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Are you lamenting the lack of families in your congregation? Are you wondering why families aren’t engaging with your congregation like they used to? Are you wondering what you can do to support families in their faith? Grow Ministries wants to help you rethink your child, youth and family ministry. Culture and society have changed so much in recent years, raising many new questions.

Grow Ministries Rethinking Faith Formation is relaunching as a face-to-face workshop with new insights and resources and providing a self-guided option.

The Rethinking workshop doesn’t outline a new program or curriculum but rather a new way of thinking about ministry. You will be reminded how God encourages us to incorporate ministry into our everyday lives:

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates (Deuteronomy 6:6–9).

Through rethinking faith formation, you will develop an understanding of how to lead a ministry that involves children, young people and their families in a new time for a new generation by:

  1. understanding why we need to rethink our approach to ministry by reflecting on our own experience
  2. learning about how Grow Ministries’ 10 Guiding Principles can help develop a vibrant community and create a culture that nurtures faith
  3. developing an understanding of intergenerational ministry
  4. understanding the importance of including parents and homes in faith formation.
