Could you talk about Jesus without saying his name? That was the challenge for Anne Hansen at Lutheran Tract Mission.

‘Ten years ago a school chaplain group asked me to produce tracts for them without the names of Jesus, Lord or Holy Spirit, and no written Bible verses.’

This is because ‘preaching’ to students isn’t allowed in state schools. The word ‘God’ could be used though.

‘At first, I thought, “My goodness! Lutheran Tract Mission is a Christian mission … how can we keep our integrity and share Jesus’ love without saying his name?”’

‘But it then became obvious! Anything which deals with love and acceptance are letters and gifts of God.’ Chaplains can give little text cards to children who come for help, and they go away with the chaplain’s message of encouragement written on the back.

A Bible reference is included on most cards and this can help to open the door to share what is written in the Bible.

God is a God of love for all his children, no matter if they grew up knowing God or are introduced to him later in life. The critical thing is that people are given the chance to know God and his love for them.

So, share God’s good news in all the little ways you can with the children in your life and with the grown-ups, too. Lutheran Tract Mission has a tract just right for any occasion.

Tracts … sharing Jesus’ love even when you can’t say his name.
