Women of the Bible

24 May 2019

Over 800 visitors viewed a stunning handcrafted display showcasing the women of the Bible in the Angaston Lutheran Church hall for the 2019 Barossa Vintage Festival. It took 14 months to create the 40 realistic individual scenes with painted backgrounds by Mrs Judi Rosenzweig and Mrs Kath Reimann.

‘We even grew our own Nile grass for the baby Moses scene and our own wheat sheaves for the Ruth scene in a town garden when the drought was forecast’, said Judi.

A static commentary by Mrs Judy McDonald accompanied each scene, relating how God used women of the Bible as part of his great rescue plan. A booklet was also printed to complement the display and provide further background and insight into their stories.

‘Women today can be leaders and take positions of authority in churches. If we are called to be a leader, we must have courage and step up to our calling’, Judy said.

The public response to the display was overwhelming and way beyond our expectations. Many who visited returned and brought their friends.

It was a wonderful experience to work together so closely making a great witness to our community.
