Where next for Unity Candle?
The giant Unity (or Christ) Candle has started this month at Caloundra, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, for that state’s meeting of District Synod on 3–5 June.
The candle, which also recently attended the SA/NT District Convention in the South Australian Riverland and the Lutheran Women of SA/NT’s 50th anniversary at St Petri Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley (pictured), then travels back to the LCA’s National Office in North Adelaide ready for its next assignment.
Later this month the wax giant will make its first trip to the Northern Territory, when it heads to Alice Springs for the Lutheran Women of Australia’s SA/NT retreat there.
The candle, which originally weighed in at a whopping 22kg, acted as an important reminder of Christ’s light when it was first lit at last year’s LCA General Convention of Synod in Rochedale, Queensland.
It is available to bring the spirit of unity to special occasions within the life of the church. To apply to have the candle at your special event, email LCA Business Manager Debbie Venz at debbie.venz@lca.org.au
