No rest for Unity Candle

Having just been to Dubbo in central New South Wales last month for the Lutheran Women of NSW 50th Annual Convention, the Unity or Christ Candle has three major assignments across two other states this month.

The candle, which originally weighed in at a whopping 22kg, is first heading to Nuriootpa, in SA’s Barossa Valley, for the Lutheran Women of SA and NT’s Annual Convention on 14 May.

It then has only a short break before a trip to Loxton in the South Australian Riverland for the SA/NT District Convention on 21 and 22 May, and three days later hits the road again, bound for Caloundra, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast for that state’s meeting of District Synod on 3-5 June.

The candle acted as an important reminder of Christ’s light when it was first lit at last year’s General Convention of Synod in Rochedale, Queensland.

It is available to bring the spirit of unity to special occasions within the life of the church. To apply to have the candle at your special event, email LCA Business Manager Debbie Venz at debbie.venz@lca.org.au
