Celebration service closes Lutheran Media’s 80th anniversary year
Earlier this month, Lutheran Media supporters and current and former staff joined the St Michael’s Lutheran Church congregation at Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills for a special anniversary celebration worship service. The 2 November service was the final event marking 80 years of Lutheran media ministry in Australia and New Zealand.
Former directors Rev Steen Olsen, Rev Richard Mau and Rev Robert Wiebusch read Bible readings, and Rev Richard Fox preached on Romans 10:11–17, ‘How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?’ Reflecting on how media is used to share the gospel, Richard reminded us of our call to bring hope to the world.
‘What a joy it was to worship God with fellow supporters of Lutheran Media over many years,’ said current Lutheran Media Manager Tania Nelson.
‘God has richly blessed Lutheran Media, enabling us to provide a message of hope in the lives of many people.’
It was a blessing to hear how Lutheran Media has made an impact by offering hope throughout crises. With advances in technology, Lutheran Media now reaches more people worldwide online and through radio.
People were also invited to watch the service via St Michael’s livestreaming service, with the opportunity to join in the celebrations from remote regions of Australia, New Zealand and beyond. The service is available to view online at www.youtube.com/watch?v=duo1xKGsQcU or through the link at www.lutheranmedia.org.au/worship-online
Representatives from around Australia and New Zealand, including former staff and directors from Lutheran Media New Zealand, joined attendees for a light lunch. Former directors also shared in cutting the celebration cake supplied by a local bakery.
